The NSW Resources Regulator is investigating an incident at the Tahmoor Coal Mine, south of Sydney.

At around 4:00pm on Wednesday, 5 September, an issue with the Number Three Shaft Winder resulted in two workers being stranded 160m underground. All other workers in the mine were evacuated.

Inspectors from the Regulator worked with emergency services and mine personnel to ensure the safe recovery of workers, which occurred just before midnight. The workers were checked by ambulance officers at the scene and cleared of any injuries.

As the investigation is ongoing, no further comment will be provided.
