The Resources Regulator has responded to an incident at Clarence Colliery, near Lithgow in the Central West of NSW.

The incident occurred around 9:00am on Wednesday morning when a piece of coal, measuring around one metre by one metre in size, dislodged and struck two workers.

One worker has suffered multiple fractures, while another worker received neck and shoulder injuries, as a result of being struck by the falling material.

Both workers were treated at the scene and then transported to hospital. The workers’ families have been notified.

The Resources Regulator immediately deployed two inspectors to the mine and the incident scene remains under a non-disturbance notice.

As investigations are ongoing. No further comment will be provided at this time.
